FOSS4G 2010 "Practical Introduction to GRASS" Workshop Virtual Machine
This Virtual Machine contains programs and data for the FOSS4G 2010 "Practical Introduction to GRASS" Workshop, Barcelona, Spain, September 2010.
Workshop slides are included in the VM but they can be also downloaded directly here.
FOSS4G 2010 "Practical Introduction to GRASS" Workshop Virtual Machine based on Xubuntu with GRASS GIS 6.4.0RC6, R 2.9.0 with GRASS support, QGIS 1.4.0 with GRASS plugin, PostgreSQL 8.4.4, PostGIS 1.5.1, pgAdminIII 1.10.2, pgagent 3.0.1, GRASS tutorial and workshop slides.
WARNING: the zip file weights about 2.1 Gb. The VM image will be on-line as long as the used bandwidth is limited: download the VM only if you have no other way of obtaining it.
Download the FOSS4G 2010 "Practical Introduction to GRASS" Workshop VM:
To use the Virtual Machine:
- install a virtualization software, such as VirtualBox, available at www.virtualbox.org;
- create a new Virtual Machine using GRASS_FOSS4G2010_workshop.vdi (you need to decompress the zip file first) as virtual Hard Disk;
- the virtual machine automatically mounts a shared folder named shared in the grass user home directory. This share must be created in the Virtual Machine setup before running the VM. If you don not want to create this share, it is safe to skip this step when the VM is started;
- start the Virtual Machine;
- the preconfigured user is grass with password grass.
