The TEM Unit of the Department of Materials Engineering and Industrial Technology was established in 1995 with a Special Project of the University. At that time, the first instruments for sample preparation and observation were acquired. The activity of the TEM Unit is focused on analytical electron microscopy of samples interesting for materials engineering applications. The TEM Unit collaborates to several research projects with other Laboratories of the Department. There are also several collaborations with external research Institutes and industrial Laboratories. Moreover, the TEM Unit provides an important support for lab classes of several courses of the Industrial Engineering Area. This web page contains information about the activities that can be carried out in collaboration with the Unit. For this purpose, several procedures, for sample preparation, imaging, electron diffraction pattern indexing, etc, currently used and implemented by the TEM Unit, are presented.
